We were woken up this morning by ex-little-old-lady-next-door's cats yowling some time between 3 and 5 (I can't see the clock properly at night and I refuse to wake up enough to do it if it's dark).

They went away, eventually, after Dean banged on the window at them. Next door's dog had started barking by then too. He stopped after next door's yelled at him.

Then some idiot went past on the main road with doof-doof loud enough for me to hear it inside my house and under the doona. Who drives with music that loud? And do they really expect to be hearing able when they're 30?

I did eventually go back to sleep. To be woken by Dean in the middle of a dream where I was explaining to the soccer team that I needed the DNA sequence comparisons in order to build the house. Hm. There was also an awards ceremony going on in the background. Feel free to interpret this.

After I eventually managed to wake up enough to get to work (took me ten minutes to get out of bed), the day went quite well. The only slight down note for today has been that one of the tobacco plants I moved to the greenhouse two weeks ago looks extremely seedy (and not in a good way) and is unlikely to survive the weekend. We so have toxicity issues. Buggerit. Fortunately there is a clone in culture, so I am less stressed than I would otherwise be. A strange day weatherwise - overcast, but mild until about 3pm, when suddenly the clouds vanished and it was blisteringly hot. The sun has more bite than I remember it having growing up - that'd probably be the hole in the ozone layer then. Or more skin damage on me, either's good. Naturally I'd forgotten to put sunscreen on my arms, because it was cloudy this morning and I didn't wake up enough to listen to the radio forecasts. Oh well. It's supposed to be stupidly hot tomorrow, so after I've done the fitting I think we'll bugger off down to the sea or somewhere. We're ignoring Valentines Day as per usual - it's culturally irrelevant and I can't be arsed. ;-)

I might also be going to the "Fracture Clinic" at RMH again - I finally went to see my doctor about the CT scan results (only a week and a half after I got them - last time it took me nearly 4 weeks to get back to him about something!) and he's concerned about the fracture. So he's going to talk to the fracture people and check whether I need surgery to get the bone bits out. So I might get to be in a wheelchair again - hopefully this time I can get someone else to push. We'll see. I'm going to delay any surgery until after this wedding though, I am absolutely not going to attempt to walk down to the Murray River on crutches. And besides which, my sister would kill me. :-)

Off for the weekend now - and somehow I've managed to double book myself and Dean into going to both a cocktail party and jazz at the zoo tonight. I'm not 100% sure how we're going to combine these two, but there's always a way. And if I can just sort out what clothes I have that'll work for both, I'll be set. :-)
