Yesterday I came into the lab next door to discover it in a bit of a mess. Stuff knocked over, the usual kind of thing. It turned out that the door to the data cabling had been left open, and unfortunately that has an opening on to the roof. As a result a possum had climbed down (helping the data cabling no end I've no doubt) and then managed to get into the PC2 labs as the cleaners had left all the doors open (*sigh*) when they finished cleaning.

Seriously, those PC2 guidelines don't specifically mention no wildlife in the lab.

Today I came in to discover that not only had it happened again but that a PhD student who was still working at 11pm had come back into the lab from having tea to discover the possum sitting on his experiment.

I haven't laughed so much in ages.

Even better was that the student then panicked and started phoning every number he had for people in the lab. At 11.30pm. Unsurprisingly he mostly got the response of "what the hell do you want me to do? No, I have no idea if this will affect the results."

But best of all was that he didn't have my number. Heh.

I think I may leave large "SHUT THE BLOODY DOOR WHEN YOU'VE FINISHED!!" signs for the cleaners tonight. :-)
