Oct. 22nd, 2004 08:35 amSo I spend months waiting for TAR5 to start. I carefully avoid sites where I know spoilers are to be found. I even stop reading forums about Survivor after some near misses (too many damn crossover fans!)
And then yesterday The Age decides to print a photo of one of the teams in its' TV Guide, with the logo "Eliminated Leg 7" over it.
Given that we're up to Leg 2 I'm a bit pissed off.
I'm willing to accept it's probably an error (they wanted the photo not the logo) but I'm still pissed off.
And really seriously wondering whether to bother renewing my subscription.

Date: 2004-10-21 10:46 pm (UTC)They just don't fucking get it -- it's not the kind of "error" that should ever happen, and I expected better from The Age.
Write to them and let them know, strongly, that it's NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
SJ went to the CBS website to look at some Survivor:Vanuatu stuff. Apparently, on the main page (not even the TAR page, which she was avoiding like the plague), there was a big banner ra-ra-ra-ing about the winning TAR5 team, picture and all. SJ sent CBS an email pretty quick smart ("If you want to sell your shows overseas, it might be a good idea if you didn't give their endings away on your main page!").
They're all bastards.

Date: 2004-10-22 01:10 am (UTC)It's not the first time this kind of stuff has happened, although I can usually deal with things like "teams go to x and do y" by just not reading any reviews or the descriptions of the programs.
But this was a bloody great photo! At the top of the page!
I avoid CBS totally during Survivor and/or TAR - it's just not worth it. I wait until everything's over and I don't care about the other shows being spruiked.

Date: 2004-10-23 08:05 am (UTC)Oh totally. Less so if it's Chad who seems to be a not-that-old, quite fit guy who's flying under the radar thanks to a prosthetic foot at the moment! At the moment he's my pick to win, closely followed by Scout or Leann.
I keep hoping the volcano will erupt and shut Eliza up though... :-)
