Nov. 23rd, 2004 04:03 pmFor some reason - OK, caffeine - I'm quite hyper today.
Not that that's a bad thing.
But hey, the sun is shining, the birds are somewhere outside the office, my lab book's up to date and most of my data is collated.
And we just found a whole stack of 8 x 10cm protean 2 plates. Which is great because they've been on back order since September and we're down to three. Yay!
For some reason I decided to watch the finale of Friends last night. I'm not sure why, because I've never really followed Friends - it's one of those series I've seen the odd episode of, but which you don't really need to have kept up with to be able to follow. (A bit like Days of our lives in that respect I suppose - I used to watch that during exam periods, and the 6 month lag posed no problems at all.)
Still, the finale was OK, if a bit cliched - and I so want babies like those. They didn't cry the whole time. Probably because they were plastic. Like Tra4ce's disturbing work models. Which I would link to if I could remember who she's working for these days.
More fun was the Montreal Comedy Festival thing on whichever channel it was. Now that - was disturbing and quite funny. Bring on the Melbourne Comedy Festival, I'm totally ready for it now. I may even get to more than one show next year. Well I'm hoping to anyway.
And just out of curiosity, is Westinghouse a brand in Canada/the US?
I'm still trying to convince Dean (after three years of nagging about saving for a house, mind you) that we should travel to visit my brother and sister this year. Not least because my sister's currently living in this town while my brother is in this one.
So, yes, that would be part of my personal quest to get to as many TAR locations as possible. ;-) Sad, but true.
It occured to me the other day that I watch hardly any drama any more. It's not that I don't like drama, it's just that everything that's on is fairly similar. There are only so many permuations of cop/lawyer/medical shows that you can get before they all blur. And other than cop/lawyer/medical shows there's not really that much else on - McLeod's Daughters and The O.C., which I haven't gotten into and don't intend to for many reasons[1], a couple of documentaries (which I do watch) and a lot of 'reality' (which is what I'm mostly watching). Still, there was a point during the year when all I was watching was drama (Spooks, 24, New Tricks, Red Caps - a noticeably British and ABC theme seems to be developing here, talk about pick the odd one out) so I guess it evens up in the end.
I also don't seem to be reading quite as many books as I used to.
[1]OK, one reason. I was addicted to 90210 for about 3 years. I can still remember odd bits of trivia about it. I even played Brandy in a production of Parkville 3052. I still watch stuff with Shannen Doherty in it, just because of 90210. I stopped watching any of Charmed when she left. On the other hand it did enhance Grosse Point - one of the best comedy series I've seen in ages - enormously for me, so it was worth it.
