TAR5 eps 6-8
Nov. 29th, 2004 05:37 pmOK, the thoughts in order:
1. Marshall and Lance quitting. Hope they lost all of their payout, little as it was. I'm sorry, if you can get all the way there, you could have done the last task and made it to Crocodile Island. Especially seeing as the guy who was injured wasn't actually the one who quit. Hm. And I actually have knee pain at the moment so I have sympathy for the one who didn't quit. But not the other one.
2. No one knowing what a scarab was. Did none of them go and see The Mummy? Or The Mummy Returns, or The Scorpion King. Sheesh. And no, Colin, that would be a scabbard. Double sheesh.
3. The begging. Hitting tourists is usually a bad idea, but a film crew probably helps. I still don't like it that much, I have to say.
4. Colin in Tanzania. Oh. My. God. Dean and I were both really, really, really hoping he'd be locked up and miss the flight. What a complete tool. Again, a film crew probably helps.
5. The bus scam the previous day. Ripped off? Not much. And how likely was it that the bus had a cutout switch for the petrol scam. Or the guy just pushed the choke in a bit to stall it? Cos the amount of petrol put in wasn't going to get them far... total, total rip off. Unusual to see it on TAR, usually the film crew helps. ;-)
6. Colin in Tanzania (again). Still stunned, what an ambassador for his country and self. Sheesh.
7. Mirna and Charla. Thank God!!! Finally they're gone! And is it just me or did everyone else swap whoever had to eat the caviar with whoever ate the ostrich egg except Mirna. Bet she thinks eating would make her less attractive or something stupid.
8. Mirna and Christie in the airport. Oh get over yourselves please. How old are you again?
9. Colin in Tanzania. How badly did he cook that egg?!?!?
10. That hotel in Dubai: how cool was that!
11. The tasks: sheep on boats good, donkeys and water good. Getting a bit over the gross eating tasks though, surely there's other stuff they can do? Although Kirsten is still hoping for another cheese eating one, her favourite to date. Mine's the chocolate. :-) Liked the off-road/on-road one, still hoping for one where the give the clue distance in miles but the dash is in km. Cos I'm sadistic like that. The address oriented tasks always seem like they'll be harder than they are, probably due to the large numbers of willing locals who happily wave to the camera while helping deliver furniture and the like. Hey there's not a lot else going on, I'd be out there too.
12. The teams: Out of who's left I have to say Chip&Kim and Brandon&Nicole have probably moved to the top of my favourites list. Probably because they race OK and they don't stress the small stuff. (And B&N are so ditzy at times. It's funny.) I like the twins, I like the Moms, I just wish both of them would take the time to read the friggin' clue and stop panicking. Race better, dammit! Unfortunately the best current racers are also the two who I want to kill - well half the team, anyway. I can deal with Christie, although I'm now convinced both of them are soulless vampires.
13. Did Phil cry when Charla was rabbiting on after being eliminated? Phil, seriously, get more sleep or something. I just wanted to slap her. Well, actually I wanted to slap Mirna, mostly, but Charla would have done.
14. Still loving it. :-) Really looking forward to TAR marathons to come!
15. Colin in Tanzania. Where do you begin? Hope he tries that shit with cops in New York, cos that? I'd love to see...

Date: 2004-11-30 06:20 am (UTC)I was disappointed that you choose not to finish the game on Sunday.
I don't see any excuse for not:
a) Staying to encourage the team
b) Shaking hands with the opponents
c) Signing the results as team captain
...but then I suppose I've never had PMT!

Date: 2004-11-30 10:29 pm (UTC)But I'm not team captain, you are. :-P
As to not finishing the game - I was there up to the last forty seconds. I certainly encouraged up to the last forty seconds. And I never manage to shake hands with the opposition once I'm off the field anyway, everyone wanders off in the other direction.
Look, it's not something I'm massively proud of either (hence no posting about it). And I am intending to apologise on Sunday.
And no, you've never had PMT. :-)

Date: 2004-12-01 12:54 am (UTC)Well actually if you want to get technical, Chris Lassig's name is actually down on the sheet we sign.
I've signed the sheet for the last 2 weeks running, but it's always been your job. You organise the emails and the last minute sms's / replacements. I'm down as contact number 3. ;)
