hnpccI ended up with a fan club cheering from the sidelines last night.
This never happens, not least because I'm not what you would call a good player. I can get in people's way, I can occasionally kick to the right team, but mostly I just run up and down trying to stay near the opposition player to prevent them getting the ball.
The sad thing is that I didn't realise that they were barracking for me until after the game (new t-shirts, I'd forgotten what number I have).
The game itself was... odd. At the end of the first half we were 5-0 down.
The second half we came out on fire, and started clawing our way back into the game. Steve scored. UKChris scored. I failed to score but Marcus got the rebound and scored.
We ended up drawing 6-6, which was fairly impressive. We came within a cm of winning (sooner or later I will miss that crossbar and get the ball in the goal).
I have no idea why we were so ordinary in the first half though, we just didn't pull it together at all.

Date: 2005-05-08 08:02 pm (UTC)I had a really good game. My last action in the outfield was to block a solid shot and my last action in goal was a professional foul. Had some good saves and nearly kept a clean sheet...must remember to punch the ball!

Date: 2005-05-08 10:42 pm (UTC)News to me. I thought this was a really peaceful game. I also think the ref had a good game, which I said at the time. However I do remember he penalised me for a "from behind" when I just stood my ground and made no movement whatsoever. Hardly a biggie. If fact that ref is the only really impressive ref there is. He gets most calls right.
