On the nineteenth day of Christmas I still hadn't finished my Christmas shopping. Or my card-writing. Most of the cleaning's done though! So I further procrastinated by opening the little window to see:

"Christmas is coming,
extended family too,
Must find some presents,
Alcohol and food.

Mozzie repellent,
Can win Andre's raffle!
Hampers as prizes,
Santa looks chuffed."

(OK, you try coming up with a lyric to rhyme with raffle that will fit in 5 syllables!)

Yes, it's Andre's Raffle of the Star! Again! (The supermarket has multiple windows.) Santa, still on his magic snow/cloud (do you reckon he can make it hover? Because that would be useful for loading groceries into the sleigh) has obviously been shopping, and is thrilled by the prospect of winning a hamper! - although given he's only got two bags it's pretty certain he won't have gotten a ticket into Andre's raffle unless there's alcohol involved. Still VB appears to be on special which could be good for the North Pole Post-Christmas Wrap Party. (That would be different from the Pre-Christmas Wrap Party, where everyone pitches in to finish wrapping up the presents, obviously). Santa definitely would need the mozzie repellent round this area (and Qld and NSW and WA and NT and everywhere else where it's currently either monsoonal or has unseasonal flooding) - they're everywhere around here, and even a moving snow/cloud is unlikely to deter them much (although they definitely dislike moving air, which would help.) In fact if it starts melting they'll probably use it as a breeding pond, and then he'll really need the mozzie repellent!! I have to admit I'm hoping Santa's clothes are lightweight because sweat apparently attracts them even more. Annoying that, but it does explain why our entire group is getting bitten a lot at training I suppose. Either way, if Santa hits the 30oC temperatures in winter woollies he's likely to vanish under a swarm of mosquitos. Maybe one of the 6 major prizes will have some insect repellent. It's worth a try.

I have to admit I'm still laughing at the sheer number of signs for the raffle. Apart from the one next to the Wise Man and the two next to Santa there are another two on the other windows as well. They really do want me to know that there's a raffle on. I'm wondering if they're trying to make up revenue after the supermarket caught fire back in 2009 and was shut for about 6 weeks.

You can easily spend $50 on two bags groceries, especially at Christmas. Bits for an antipasto platter for 6 and a few bottles of sparkling non-alcoholic cider will do the trick.
