On the twenty-first day of Christmas my youngest niece turned two, it was the longest day/shortest night of the year (or vice versa up north) and I opened the little window to find:

"Sweet smelling flower! O red balloon!
You de-stress us completely;
O red balloon! Sweet smelling flower!
You make us smile so sweetly;
Our shopping stress just fades away,
Work's in a mess - we're out to play.
Sweet smelling flower! O red balloon!
Centres our soul so neatly!"

Yes it's the florists and a timely reminder that in among the last minute shopping, cleaning, work-related stuff and parties we should probably at least attempt to take a minute out and smell a flower or play with a red balloon (although try not to pop it as that's kind of counter-productive, especially if you're playing with a two year old and don't actually have a replacement). I do like how Santa has abandoned his magic snow/cloud in favour of a daisy, while Cupid appears to be wondering whether he can actually eat the balloon, or whether he should wait for Santa to give up on the flower and eat that instead.

So, in the interests of centering my soul I'm off to find a flower. A chocolate one.
