The English as she is mangled

hnpccOr, the Eurovision song contest.
Bitter, bitter disappointment (I was barracking for Belgium - personally I thought the idea of a song in a language no one speaks was marketing brilliance for that competition!) but an orright song won for a change...
Missed Terry Wogan, but didn't mind the SBS guy too much - next time guys, give him some background so he can put in the narky comments about regional voting preferences. We had to do it ourselves, which never works as well.
And my personal awards for tonight's competition:
Best Hissy Fit: the French woman giving her votes after the comperes cut her off.
Best Backhanded Compliment: The Swedish woman to the comperes "You're doing a great job. Really."
Funniest but also daggiest joke: the Slovenian guy pretending to leave. I found it funny anyway.
Best stuff up: the woman who mixed up her votes and had to start again. Hee.
Second best stuff up: "9 points goes to.." "we don't have a 9 points" "Oh sorry, 10 points goes to..."
Best S&M dress: the Greek singer. As voted by Dean.
Best "revealing" dress: the Spanish correspondent. Again, Dean: "Buenos Noches Spain. Or, as we say, norgs."
Most excruciating moment: pretty much any time the comperes opened their mouths. OK, my Latvian sucks worse than their English, but I think my French is pretty much on a par with theirs *giggle*.
And finally,
Best Porno Mo: the Latvian correspondent. And how long did it take him to grow that?!?
Please, feel free to add categories. I laughed lots.
And was the UK going out deliberately to lose, or does it just need to set up some regional voting "preferences" deals or what? Maybe they should sing in a language other than English next year... Cornish, or Welsh or Gaelic or something - obviously English is no longer trendy. ;-)
And I so think if Israel can get in under "Europe" then we should be able to. After all, we were the only non-competing country to send a journalist along to do commentary this year. :-)
