1. What did you do in 2003 that you'd never done before?
Went to the gym, didn't study! (first time since 1977 for the study anyway)

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Probably not, and probably. Only this time I'll try and remember them.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not close, but quite a few school friends did.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Yes. My uncle passed away from cancer in Feb.

5. What countries did you visit?
Australia. Flinders Ranges and Vic mostly.

6. What would you like to have in 2004 that you lacked in 2003?
Willpower. And far more passport stamps.

7. What date from 2003 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
None that I can really think of offhand.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Cloning lettuce!

9. What was your biggest failure?
Getting lettuce to the glasshouse and seed. Without it dying that is.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Meh. Bloody ankle. Can now walk though.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Filing cabinet. Now if I could get the stuff to file itself, I'd be set.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Hm, hard to say. Probably not mine.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Mine, frequently. John Howard's. Tony Abbott's. Phillip Ruddock's. Amanda Vanstone's.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent, living. General expenses. And lunch - I have to stop buying it, and, more importantly, stop Dean buying his.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Positive clones.

16. What songs will always remind you of 2003?
"Bring me to Life", Evanescence.

17. Compared to this time last year,
i. are you happier or sadder?
About the same.

ii. thinner or fatter?
About the same. I was thinner, but then I spent 3 weeks on crutches, while not reducing my calorific intake. Dammit.

iii. richer or poorer?
Richer. But I wish I wasn't - I'd rather have my uncle around.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Exercise. And healthy eating. And stretching before games. And stuff.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Probably playing Civilisation:Call to Power. Obsessive doesn't quite describe it.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
With Dean's parents and then my parents.

22. Did you fall in love in 2003?
No. Didn't fall out of either.

23. How many one night stands?
I take it I can't count Dean then?

24. What was your favourite TV programmes?
Oooh. The Amazing Race, Survivor, Cold Feet, Buffy (although it slipped a lot from previous seasons) and quite a few of the miniseries that slipped on and off during the year.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No, don't think so. I'm irritated with various people that I wasn't this time last year... :-)

26. What was the best book you read?
Difficult to say. I've enjoyed most books I've read this year.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
That my car radio wasn't broken, the AM switch had just been pushed down (hey, it took me 5 months to notice, OK?)

28. What did you want and get?
*grin* tell you in the new year... if I get it!

29. What did you want and not get?
Magical weight loss with accompanying height gain and sudden resemblance to Cameron Diaz. ;-)

30. What was your favourite film of this year?
Probably LOTR:TT. Actually, I think that may have been the only film I saw in the cinema this year.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
31. I went to tea somewhere. Probably Mexican or Italian.

To be able to resolve the PMCI issues, personally if not with everyone else.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2003?
My what????

34. What kept you sane?
Netball and soccer. When they weren't the cause of insanity.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Hugh Grant.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Refugees in detention centres.

37. Who did you miss?
My uncle. My brother.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Hm.. soccer hooligans. ;-) I love fill ins who can play! ;-)

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2003
Just accept the past and deal with it. Even if I don't follow my own advice, frequently. That and you can't change what the dickhead tailgating you is doing, you can only change your own behaviour. So keep a safe braking distance so you're only hit from behind.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year
I can never remember song lyrics.

"ze zeggen dat ik taai ben/
dat ik een echte haai ben/
het lijkt alleen maar zo/
vraag maar aan domino/
ik heb in heel mijn leven/
om niemand veel gegeven/
maar wel aan domino/
domino of zo"

(man I hope I've spelt that correctly)
