In one of the funniest things I have read all morning, Bush and Blair have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

I do hope they give L'il Johnny a Sheriff's badge at least, otherwise he'll feel left out.

Nobel watchers say neither Mr Bush nor Mr Blair has much chance of winning.

*snerk* Dunno, does Bush's brother run the committee? ;-)

Here in the US you won't see the fact that there are other countries over there mentioned anywhere except by right-wing columnists/talk show hosts/etc, because the left are still whining about "unilateral action", and they're the ones who run the mainstream press. It's in their political interests to drum up as much ill will toward Bush as necessary, so they don't mention any other countries that are in Iraq for fear that somebody might think the rest of the world isn't absolutely opposed to what's going on and hating our guts for being there. I realize it's unrealistic to expect no bias, but....

Maybe we can live in hope...

It's interesting that Jan Simonsen, an independent member of the Norwegian parliament and one of a relative handful of people able to make nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize, chose to make his nomination public. According to the Nobel Foundation:

"...Information about the nominations is not to be disclosed, publicly or privately, for a period of fifty years. The restriction not only concerns the nominees and nominators, but also investigations and opinions in the awarding of a prize.

AND

"The deliberations as well as the votes are kept secret. Only the results are made public."

Hopefully this stupid twat has completely squashed any chance that his nomination might succeed by publicly announcing it.
