Much to everyone's surprise, given how badly we went last week. And we only had four players for most of the match, due to a minor misunderstanding of venue. Fortunately Mandy showed up for the second half, I think the others were dying by then. I didn't play - still can't run (at least not in sandals).

What was truly amazing was that we actually won quite well. 7-4. The other team had 6 players, but really didn't seem to get their act together for the match - they weren't managing to pass to each other very well, particularly not in goal. Whereas we were (a) passing to each other and (b) closing them down quite successfully in defence.

So, final next week! Yay! :-)

The key difference between the teams was the quality of the men. They lacked a natural Goal scorer (while Marcus just couldn't miss today) and their Goal keeping was useless (while I had a damn fine evening.)

Kirsten also had a damn fine game. It's good that all three of the out-players had a hand in the goals (quite literally in Kirsten's case). I also think we had a physiological boast over them by being one person down, and at least 2 goals up. It is bad when you are getting beaten, but getting beaten by a team with less people than you must be horrible. Add to that whenever they did score, we scored one back.
