and out of the blue
Mar. 7th, 2002 03:17 amI applied for this job in Ballarat ages ago. Today one of my referees tells me that someone contacted her about it! I'd totally given up on the whole thing - usually if you haven't heard anything in about a fortnight it means the rejection letter's in the mail. Guess I'd better drag the PD out of whichever folder I've left it in... absolutely buggered if I can remember *anything* about the job other than it's in Ballarat. And given that that's 110km away that's a fairly major thing to remember.
They must be having real trouble finding anyone if they're down to my resume though.. *grin*

Date: 2002-03-06 08:59 am (UTC)It seems that when people start public journals Things Happen just to give them something to write about. Well, that's what Ang always said about mine, anyhow.
Of course, the down side is that for dramatic irony you will actually get three job offers in quick succession, you will dither about which to take while one pulls out. Of the remaining two you will wind up taking the one in Ballarat and having to move. Upon moving the job market will dry up, however you will have befriended an old lady who runs a sweet store who will offer you a retail position. During a night shift six months down the line the store will be ram raided and you will be paid large sums of money in compensation for undue stress - however the shaken old lady will use this experience as an excuse to shut up shop. You will use your new found funds to buy her out and turn the place into a news agency. One day, as the papers are delivered at 5am you spot a job opening in scientific research and on a whim you apply. You get the job of your dreams, live a life of happiness and never get around to updating your journal further.
Trust me, it'll happen if you don't watch out.
