Feb. 9th, 2005 09:02 amWatched the documentary on the far Evangelical Christian right on SBS last night. Interesting.
Not entirely surprising, mind you. Scary in a lot of ways, particularly the training conservatives to (hopefully, from their perspective) fill positions of legal power. Shades of The Handmaid's Tale.
The whole Rapture thing still amazes me. Interesting perspectives on it here, rebuttal of the first article here, Rapture Index here.
So this is it, we're all going to die!
Well der.
Edited to add: OK, I'm reading the FAQ of the Rapture site. And in among the 'Bible' questions is:
Does the Bible allow spanking?
Seriously. Well, it cracked me up anyway.

Date: 2005-02-09 04:42 pm (UTC)I'm more with the angel out of Good Omens, when he pointed out that planning to be safely in heaven when the rest of the world burns is kind of rude, not to mention that if Armageddon happens humans'll just be collateral damage anyway. No one's got time to woosh them out of the way, it's nothing to do with them. (paraphrasing a lot there, in case you didn't notice).
