May. 17th, 2005 05:12 pmI'm taking
jamaisneutral's line as being the closest to a tag I'm likely to receive, so here we go.
1)Total number of books owned?
Dunno. Couple of hundred. I can't even tell you how many bookshelves full as since the flood in the back room one bookshelf's worth has been spread in piles across the floor. Couple of hundred though. Possibly more. It doesn't help that my family tend to circulate books amongst ourselves, so some aren't technically mine and some that are technically mine are in Cairo/Ferrara.
2) The last book I bought?
Hm. Probably A Murray Whelan Trilogy, by Shane Maloney or The Harp in the South Trilogy, by Ruth Park. Both consisting of three books (Stiff, The Brush Off and Nice Try for the first; Missus, The Harp in the South, and Poor Man's Orange for the second). I bought them in one of the second hand shops in Beechworth when we went up to Wang over Easter.
dmw did you want to borrow the Murray Whelan trilogy one?
3) The last book I read?
Hmm, tricky. I'm in the middle of Poor Man's Orange, but I also just finished Thief of Time by Terry Pratchett again last night.
4) 5 books that mean a lot to me?
OK.
To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee;
The Dark is Rising, by Susan Cooper (I mean all five books here btw, although I do like The Dark is Rising the best);
Storm Boy, by Colin Thiele
Absolute Friends, by John LeCarre
Jingo, by Terry Pratchett.
5) Tag 5 people and have them fill this out on their ljs:
I've no idea who's done this and who hasn't so if you want to, go for it!
