Just got an e-mail from a friend telling me that she got married over the weekend. It was a quiet wedding, family only, but they're planning a reception/party at a later date.
Quiet weddings seem to be quite the go at the moment - a friend from high school suprised her family by telling them that she'd gotten married in the Cook Islands recently and another friend decided that dealing with family was too hard so she and her now-husband eloped in California. (Note to all people planning weddings in hot air balloons - check whether the celebrant is afraid of heights!)
I don't think I've been to a single church wedding since my cousin got married in 1994. On the other hand I've been to one garden, one riverside, one private house and one winery wedding. (Wineries are very good I've decided - elimates the stagger factor entirely). None of these weddings were anywhere near public transport either - the garden one was out in the hills around Melb, the church was down the penninsula, the winery was out Sunbury and the riverside one... *grin* well, it was described as "Sydney" but it was a long way out of the CBD! ;-)
If Dean and I get married the current joke is that we will describe the location as "Melbourne" and then have it somewhere like Kinglake... *giggle* only 45km out in the hills with no public transport... but cheap!
Anyway, what I started off to write was..Congratulations Liz and Barry!!! :-)
