Apr. 6th, 2002 11:46 amI was reading an article in the paper about current screening for prospective Catholic priests. Due to the increase in reported incidents of abuse of children by priests, the seminarys in Melbourne at least are now conducting huge tests, and background investigations into men wanting to join. Don't have a problem with that - in fact it is probably a good thing that should have been instituted a fair while ago. However, the bit that made me both laugh and sigh: having had gay sex is an automatic disqualification, but fathering a child out of wedlock isn't.
How hypocritical is that. Guys, come into the 21st century. Please.
