back on crutches
Nov. 20th, 2007 10:48 amSo I tore my other calf muscle playing netball last night. This wasn't entirely unexpected - it's been tearing a little bit during games over the past about 4 weeks or so, but it's still annoying. I was hoping it'd last until we shutdown for Christmas and then I could give it four or so weeks to recover. But no, it went with a pop as I was turning to chase a loose ball last night. Damn.
Still, better than the unravelling sensation the other one tearing had. I'll take pop any day. It's quicker, for starters.
I decided not to go into work, mostly because I couldn't walk properly and crutches are officially deemed an OH&S hazard. And of course, I had to go and get the crutches first, so I went to the physio this morning - he's always surprised to see me, especially limping. Not sure why, this is the fourth time I've shown up hopping.
The good thing is that this isn't a very bad tear, at least not compared to the other calf muscle. The bad thing is that I'm competing in Sydney in the Urban Max with my sister on Saturday. We are going to come last, probably by quite a long way. :-)
The scary thing is that I'm wearing a tube bandage and it's supposed to get to 37oC today. Great.
The other scary thing is I just found a spider sitting in the corner of my eye. Damn warm weather, all the insects (and arachnids) come out and then drop out of the trees with the breeze, sit in your hair and end up in the corner of your eye. Hopefully I'm not transporting any more unwanted guests - haven't found any yet, despite having what looked a lot like a controlled fit to the guy sitting next to me.
Anyway. I need to be off crutches by Saturday. I hope.
