So after being off sick Tuesday/Wednesday with a chest/throat infection, I went back to work on Thursday. It went well - a quiet day with a lab meeting in the morning (together with a fire alarm evacuation, projector globe blowout, accidental restart of computer containing the talks and three people having to leave early because we were running so late by this stage), then a meeting in the afternoon.
Got home early, went off to play netball. I didn't actually want to play (remnants of cold making me cough lots still), but unfortunately it was a final and our only back up player was on holidays (we didn't expect to make the finals.)
So I played. And, 5 minutes before the end of the game, I fell over my opponents foot and did my other ankle.
Sound familiar? I was lying on the court this time going "oh for fuck's sake, not again".
The good side is that it's nowhere near as bad as last time. I definitely haven't broken anything, I could put weight on the foot although I can't walk on it, it's only 1.5 times the normal size instead of about 4.
But still. I really wasn't planning on being on crutches right now dammit. And I ended up taking Friday off as well (stairs bad, driving ouch), making this the most sick leave I've taken in a week since... the last time I did this.
Dean is also at home having caught my chest thing, so we're a sorry sight all round really. He's coughing, I'm on crutches and coughing and the doctor's seen both of us three times in two days. Brilliant.
