This week has been a very netball-heavy week. I played Mon with the women's team (we lost by about three, mostly because all of our tall defence players were off sick and so we had people my height defending - never a good start), then Wed with the band team which was promoted to division one after winning division two last year and as a result playing there is going to make me very fit very quickly if it doesn't kill me first, then finally Thurs with the fill in team. I was supposed to also play Thurs with the normal mixed team, but after spending most of yesterday with about a third of my brain panicking over finding two extra players (day before a long weekend) and e-mailing/phoning/texting everyone I could think of who might be able to play and then finding two people and spending an hour or so of being absolutely relieved and happy, the association rang me to say our opponents had forfeited because they couldn't field a full team. Bastards.

So this far into the seasons the status is:

Women's team: lost 3, won 1.

Mixed team: won 2 (one by forfeit).

Band team: lost 1, won 1.

Fill in team: lost 2.

No of course the seasons don't coincide, that would be far too logical.

I think I still need to find two permanent players for the Mixed team, as various people who were going to play have now panicked and withdrawn in favour of thesis writing. Trust me, you'd be better off playing the netball, it's great stress relief. And you should always try and get away from the thesis for at least one hour per week.

Soccer-wise we are doing better than expected, to the point that we were actually moved up a division after the first five grading games. This suprised us, more so when we then managed to win the first game in the new division. Unfortunately that streak couldn't continue, and we lost last week - not least because we only had 5 players and were too stuffed to defend well towards the end. Everyone's back from holidays this week though, so with any luck we will be able to come through for another win.

In other news I decided to get serious about training and started going to the gym 3-4 times a week. I was doing very well until this week, when I fell asleep on the couch on Tuesday and didn't make it in. On the other hand, I think I may have needed that. You would think from all this activity that I would be noticeably thinner and/or fitter. I'm not, of course. I think my body's given up on any ideas of letting go of any potential energy source. Of course changing my diet again would also help, but I haven't managed to do that consistently at all. I think I need to take over all the cooking. *sigh*

And I keep waiting for [livejournal.com profile] kirstenfleur to mention her news so I can talk about it. Hint, hint.
