Discovering that "the other side of the world" from my house is in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, via this handy site. Well kinda anyway.

That of course made me wonder what was "the other side of the world" from China, to which the answer is "Argentina. Oh and other bits of South America."

So there you go.

Eak! I'm in between Australia and New Zealand.

And they always promised us at school that if we'd dig a tunnel through the earth we'd end up in Australia. Liars!

I am a bit boggled to find that Christchurch, New Zealand, pairs with northern Spain. Must be that warm Atlantic current that keeps western Europe warm.

Presumably that and the lack of a bloody cold ocean with nothing else between it and the Arctic? That current really does a lot doesn't it - the more I realise, the more I'm convinced we're stuffed when/if it stops.

Then I wonder if it would balance out global warming.

Then I realise that no, it'd just add another fascinating variable into the whole thing.

Apparently living in Dallas, Texas lands you about halfway between Australia and Madagascar. I wish I'd known that when I was a kid, we were always trying to dig to China.

Same. Which doesn't make a huge amount of sense here, seeing as China's in the same timezone as Perth (well, bits of it).

I put the red thing on London and looked at the other map. I was briefly surprised to see that its antipodal point was on the international date line.

Until I thought about it and then I hit myself, hard.
