One More Day
Jan. 20th, 2009 01:47 pmAnother day, another destiny.
Obama is going to screw up, and lie about it, and do all the other frustrating and human things all the guys before him did, but praise God he's going to do it while using correct English..."
*snerk*
I have no idea what Bush's legacy is likely to be. Don't really care much either. Tomorrow is another day, another start.
The last ride is about to start.

Date: 2009-01-26 02:00 pm (UTC)To be fair though, he's not going to "do it while using correct English" -- he's just going to do it using much better English than the previous guy.
I've read one interview where Mr Obama has demonstrated that he thinks "nonplussed" means the opposite of its actual meaning. I've also read (but haven't heard myself yet) that he uses constructions like "this is a great day for Michelle and I" thinking that that's correct (I'll shudder when I do hear that one, just as I shudder when I hear it from non-Presidents).
Still, it's light years away from someone who says "is our children learning?" (Ant said, "Well? Is they?"). I think I'll take it.

Date: 2009-01-26 09:49 pm (UTC)I just found it amusing that amongst all the hope for better leadership was the sentiment of "And he doesn't mangle the language nearly as much!" Heh.
I hope next year's calendar has a combination of Bush, Quale and other politician's quotes.
My favourite quote btw:
"For every fatal shooting, there were roughly three non-fatal shootings. And, folks, this is unacceptable in America. It's just unacceptable. And we're going to do something about it." —Philadelphia, Penn., May 14, 2001
As Dean said, teach them to aim better!
