So that poor 9 year old that was abused and impregnated in Brazil? The Brazilian Catholic Church excommunicated her family and the doctors involved. (But not her, because she's too young.)

Seriously, there are times you just want to weep. Or hit someone.

And incidentally her stepfather sounds like an absolute charmer.

For heaven's sake, if they hadn't terminated the pregnancy, both her and the foetuses would have died! How many 9 year olds are physically able to carry a pregnancy to term?

I hope they excommunicated the stepfather first and foremost, the evil sod.

Well they haven't mentioned the stepfather at all. Maybe they're waiting for him to be convicted. Or, more likely, abuse of a minor is not as unforgivable a sin as abortion. At least in the eyes of the Brazilian clergy. *sigh*

Either way, it does make a bit of a mockery of the "judge not" bit.
