"So I almost became a reluctant free-birther," said one, in a reference to the radical movement that contends childbirth is a deeply sexual experience that should only be shared between lovers.

?!?!??!

I can honestly say of all the things I've ever thought about childbirth, "deeply sexual experience" is not one of them.

Ach, I file those under live and let live. It's *eating* the placenta I find a tad disturbing. And there are people who do that. Apparently it's meant to protect women against post-natal depression.

Sheila Kitzinger's to blame for all this childbirth/sex/orgasm stuff. To be fair, it is mostly people misinterpreting/misquoting her that's lead to the hoohaa about orgasmic birth etc.

I had a textbook Kitzinger 'orgasmic' birth and I promise you, nothing ever made me feel less like having sex again in my lifetime.
