Jan. 24th, 2003 03:39 pmThe smog is now so thick I can't see the Lysterfield smoke.
It's also heading quite quickly to the 37oC maximum.
So it's hot and smoky. Joy.
So far NSW, Vic, Qld, ACT, Tas, WA and I think SA have fires happening. Is NT the only one out?
And the fireworks for the long weekend have been cancelled in Melb. :-)

Date: 2003-01-24 04:35 am (UTC)I find it totally perplexing people's thoughtlessness at times like this. [during the recent firefighter strikes, there were people doing hoax calls.] Humanity is a puzzle, its a lack of responsibilty i think. Pffttt. Hope that your nearest and dearest stay safe.

Date: 2003-01-26 03:51 am (UTC)At least in the southern half of the state we've got the change come through and even some rain...
But the NSW and Canberra fires don't look great either - there was a soundbite with a frustrated CFA guy saying "it doesn't matter which way the wind goes - we've got problems whatever it does..."
