Another Friday finished (almost).

I've decided that Fridays are more psychological than anything else, given that I'll probably need to come in to set some things up on Sunday. Even when I was working through weekends I still felt a sense of the week being ended on Friday though.

This week has been a hectic one. Started Westerns last week, more of them this week. Up until the middle of last week a hectic day for me involved getting here early, grabbing my stuff, heading over to the other lab, sitting in front of a hood for 6-8 hours, coming back, making media for the next day and then heading home.

Now it's: come in, set up gels, grab media, go to other building, do 2 hours, come back, load gel, make media, go back to other building, cut lettuce, come back and take gel off.. basically it involves a lot more walking and climbing of stairs (main lab is on the 2nd floor, office on the first floor, other lab on the 3rd floor in a different building) than I've been recently doing outside of a gym.

Netball also started again after the long weekend last week, which added to the muscle fatigue. Still, we won. :-)

Tuesday I met up with a friend from Korea who I hadn't seen since 1995. I also met up with two other friends, both of whom live in Melbourne, who I hadn't seen for almost 6 months and 4 (I think - possibly longer) years. I'm not sure what our excuses are... :-) It was fun catching up though, even though I managed to totally forget that I was supposed to be going out to tea, and so went to the gym and then home. This was despite getting an e-mail about it that morning, too. Fortunately I was able to meet everyone for coffee afterwards, and given that it was a balmy 26oC at 10pm, sitting outside drinking coffee was just right. Well, a gelati would have also been nice.. ;-) but I couldn't convince Dean to stop on the way home.

J. brought her five year old daughter with her. She's gorgeous. Doesn't know a lot of English (not surprisingly!) but still able to communicate. It was great watching her play. Her best moment would have to have been looking at the photo album I brought with photos from the last time J. was out here and asking "Is Chris wearing a wig?". No, that's just the "Album of Chris' bad hairstyles." Dean also had both more and less hair in that album. My hair stays about the same... I'm not sure if that's depressing or not!

We all look a lot younger in it though. :-)
