Aug. 1st, 2010 01:28 pmThis election is making me angry.
Which in turn leads to me avoiding all mention of it as much as possible.
Which is leading to me becoming more and more politically disengaged.
On the positive side, it is making me less angry if I ignore it all. On the negative side, I think being angry and acting would probably lead to better outcomes.
I didn't watch the leaders "debate". (I didn't watch Masterchef either, come to that.) If it were a debate I might have considered it, but it was always going to be spin. And I'm sick of it to be honest.
Still. Nominations closed yesterday, so I should know soon which candidates are actually standing in my completely safe Labor seat and what choices I have with preferences.
God I wish the Albert Langer method were still legal. There is seriously nothing I would like better than to put the ALP and Liberal parties equally last just at the moment. If I can't see any differences in the me-tooism of the parties I fail to see how I'm supposed to preference one over the other.
Then of course I can start getting creative with the Senate choices as well. At least with the Senate I'm likely to have a choice of 60-70 (or possibly more) candidates to number. Which will at least make me feel slightly more involved.
