feijoa update
Jun. 9th, 2011 10:00 pmI have to say after tasting the feijoas - didn't mind them. As Dean said, they're a bit of a cross between a kiwifruit - with a tarter taste - and a lychee. Yes I know that sounds odd. We didn't end up making the muffins, mostly because we didn't have the right ingredients, so we just ate the ones we had instead. I'd probably prefer them with something than just by themselves - they've got that same gritty taste as pears do, and like pears I think they'd go well with apple.
I have been thinking about chocolate and feijoa muffins though. I think this is from kiwifruit chocolate, which is difficult to get over here and which I love. Definitely worth a try I think. Am tossing up as to whether dark or milk chocolate would work better...
