Jun. 22nd, 2011 03:44 pmOK, more race current standings. I do intend to actually post impressions the last couple of legs, I just haven't had time to do it. Unlike this, which is a five minute procrastination job.
Tyler and Nathan: average 2.33
Matt and Tom: average 3.17
Jeff and Luke: average 4.00
Dave and Kelly: average 4.50
Anastasia and Chris: average 4.83
Sam and Renae: average 5.17
Alana and Mel: average 6.67
So... really no surprises there. Sam and Renae are almost certainly the next team out, unless one of the others has some crappy luck (or they get some quality sleep). Dave and Kelly and Chris and Anastasia are pretty even, and then you have the remaining male:male teams. I'd probably be slightly less irritated by the top three being likely all male if it wasn't for so many of the Detour choices appearing to favour those teams. No women did "Guns". The only woman on a team that chose to throw the knobknerries had a male partner (who then appeared to do most of the throwing). While quite a few women chose to carry the princess, it was something that favoured upper body strength quite a bit. It's not the only reason that the women are being knocked out - Alana and Mel had incredible trouble with navigation and Sam and Renae appear to have hit killer fatigue quite early - but it certainly seems to be contributing, particularly when something like "Guns" is significantly closer to the final task than the other half of the Detour. I'll be disappointed if this ends up being the first season of Amazing Race where the final teams are entirely one gender.
Unfortunately at this stage that seems likely to happen. *sigh*
