Jul. 20th, 2011 03:56 pmMore Amazing Race average leg placing stats:
Nathan and Tyler: 2.67
Matt and Tom: 3.56
Jeff and Luke: 3.56
Sam and Renae: 5.11
There were things I liked about that leg - the Roadblock was quite good, and the Detour had its moments, not least because I think Jerusalem is the only place on earth where no one blinks twice at two men lugging around a crucifix, but it would have been better if the teams had any chance of actually, you know, passing each other. Not sure why some teams feel the need to help others, particularly when the team they're helping is strong, fast, currently struggling and there are only 4 teams left. On the other hand everyone's built up relationships and it's kind of hard to dump them, even at this late stage. Which still wouldn't have stopped me saying no to working together. (Or more likely "you go see if what you've got's right" while I finished off what I was doing and left.)
On the other hand the total disconnect between how Jeff perceived the situation and how whichever surfer it was did was hilarious.
Seriously there were more cut-throat TAR-Asia teams than there are in this final four.
The "upper body strength" theme is also continuing, not sure who designed some of these tasks - Biggest Loser trainers, perhaps? If next week focuses entirely on tasks involving abdominal muscles I'll be certain of it. At least this week it was a Detour, rather than a Roadblock. And no Intersection in sight either.
I think that's the longest a TAR series has gone between non-elimination legs, too - first leg and now leg 9. Personally I would have liked one somewhere in the middle, probably where either Mel and Alana were eliminated or after that God-Awful Intersection where Chris and Anastasia were eliminated. Not least because "come in first" as a penalty is a bit easier when you have a few more teams leeway if you fail.
So one more elimination and a finale to go. Will Jeff and Luke's "winner's" edit be fufilled? Is there any chance this won't be an all-male final?
And why couldn't they have run this three years ago when I could have actually applied to be on it? :-)
