The drugs have kicked in again, which is good.

Still hopping, but now am supposed to put bad foot down and move forward over it (can't describe very well). That hurts. So I've stopped and taken drugs. Good drugs.

Went to the physio for the second time last night - the first time was in Brunswick, where the offices are in a small semi-detached house with a ramp up to the door. Last night was in Coburg, again a semi-detached house but no ramp, only a four very steep steps. This wouldn't be so bad, but the steps were actually so steep I was having trouble getting the crutch at an angle to get up them. I'm too short. So I hopped. From now I'm only going to the Brunswick office. Tomorrow in fact.

The physio stuff is OK, I don't mind having current run through me (it's very peaceful sitting there with a vague tingly feeling in your foot while reading crappy magazines for 15 mins), nor the ultrasound thingy (blue gel makes bruising look even blacker, which I wasn't sure was possible), nor even the manipulation (although that hurts more).

It is getting the fluid buildup down, and as a result my toes look almost normal (they were very disturbing looking for a couple of days) and my ankle is down to only slightly bigger than the control ankle.

And I can put my foot on the ground while standing up again! Can't put much weight on it, but I can at least move my ankle enough so that the foot will go on the ground. Yay! I'll be back on the court in no time. Well, January at least.

The other side of this is that I'm absolutely buggered from moving on the crutches and just general hassle in getting around. My shoulders and wrists are really sore, it feels like I've done a couple of major workouts. Wed night I was almost asleep on the couch at 8.30pm, and was asleep in bed at 9.50pm. Last night I made it to bed (from the couch where I'd crashed at 7.30pm) at 10pm, and was asleep 10 mins later. I'm not doing a lot (or it doesn't feel like it) but I'm absolutely stuffed by the end of it.

The other wierd thing that happened last night was that the toenail on my little toe on the right foot came off. I'm not sure why, it had been blackish but I actually thought that was dye from my shoes. Apparently not. It grossed Dean out entirely, particularly when I pulled the last little bit away and ended up with bright red blood all over my little toe.

So now I have bandages on my left ankle, a bandaid on my right little toe, a bandaid on my right big toe (I tore the nail across the centre a couple of weeks ago playing netball), blisters on my left hand, welts under both arms from where the crutches are rubbing and a brace around my right wrist (it was too sore to use a mouse yesterday).

But no pain. Go the drugs!
