Or, in my case, my ankle.

It's mostly down to a dull ache, which is nice after the shooting stabs of pain that were most of the last week and a bit.

Just after I did my ankle, people kept asking me to rate the pain, on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being minimal and 10 being childbirth.

Not actually having given birth that's always a difficult question I find - and what exactly do they ask guys? "On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being a kick in the nuts"? Or just "imagine childbirth as the highest level of pain possible - now, on a scale of 1 to 10..."

I tended to give answers of 3, until I moved the ankle or it was touched, at which point it was about 6. Or 7. Or just Ouch!

Currently it's down to a constant 2, probably because I just "walked" to and from the union building and then to and from worksite 2. And then down some stairs. And then I got stuck in the goods lift, something that everyone's been predicting would happen all week. Well, it finally did. And wouldn't it be the one time I'm by myself? Hmph.

I finally managed to get myself out by opening and shutting the doors again (difficult, even now I can steady myself with my bad foot) and getting the bloody thing to move again. The walking is with both crutches, but with any luck I'll be down to one crutch tomorrow and off them by the end of the week. Touching lots of wood. I'm still finding it easier to walk with sneakers on than in bare feet - a combination of my heel being still bruised (but cushioned by the shoes) and the support of my ankle by the sneaker.

Apart from being stuck in lifts...

Fri night I caught up with other friends and saw "About a Boy". Not a bad movie, but then again, I like Hugh Grant and can watch most things with him in (there are some exceptions which I have to turn the sound off for and ff through the bad bits). I'm one of the people who came out of "Bridget Jones' Diary" and went "I would have dumped Colin Firth and gone for Hugh Grant myself..."

The weekend was beautiful weather, and just for a change we actually went outside and enjoyed it. Sat was turkey day, in this case celebrated by watching MST3K with friends (OK, that was inside, but it was out of the house, which is a nice change). We actually saw a KTMA one, one that unfortunately they didn't get the rights to do later as it was totally hilarious even with the substandard riffing. SST: Death Flight, in case anyone's wondering. There is a good reason why you should gaff tape me quiet if the movie is in any way likely to feature stupidly bad genetics and/or medicine though.

Sun I caught up with a friend and we had lunch in Albert Park. Beautiful weather for it and ice-creams post coffee. Yum, yum, yum. Chocolate truffle ice-cream is... heaven. If it wasn't for the usual soccer run around I would have been quite happy. Then in the evening the change came across and we got some rain, although much less than I was anticipating.

And here I am back at work, although running rapidly out of lab book to write. Damn, I'll have to start lit searching soon.
