The US government wants
Mamdouh Habib to be shackled on the flight from Guantanamo Bay to Australia. We've also apparently agreed to divert the plane around US airspace, because he is still considered to be an "enemy combatant" and they'll have to arrest him if he flies over US airspace (?!?!?)
So let's see. He's arrested in Pakistan, illegally taken to Egypt where he's tortured until he confesses to whatever the fuck it is they want, moved to Guantanamo Bay as an "illegal combatant" for three years, is now being released because they don't actually have enough evidence to charge him and they're making him fly the long way home in chains because...?
I'm blaming Phillip Ruddock for this one. Just because.
